Windows Desktop Icons Are White

If your icons have turned white or not displayed correctly you may have a corrupt icon cache.

To reset the icon cache open Powershell/CMD in the directory below.

%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer

Exit all Explorer windows or kill task in Task Manager to allow deletion of the files below

Delete all iconcache.db files in %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer

del iconcache*

Open another Powershell/CMD window for the following directory.

%userprofile%\AppData\Local

Delete the file iconcache.db if it exists in %userprofile%\AppData\Local

del iconcache.db

Sign out or hide/show desktop icons to rebuild icon cache
